#DO I NEED JAVA 8 FOR MINECRAFT INSTALL#
Still, it may make sense to install the most recent version of Java instead and use it instead of the one that Minecraft ships with by default. The majority of issues are mitigated however since it is only used by Minecraft and not picked up by web browsers or other programs on the system. I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arnt free, so anything is appreciated. This is wrong, they still ship J8 for <1.17 So for any of the versions that arnt the latest snapshot use J8. Just open the jar file with Minecrafts built in java runtime at C:/Program Files (x86)/Minecraft Launcher/runtime/jre-圆4/bin/javaw.exe.
jar file in a folder with a plain text file that has the following lines: /bin/bash cd '(dirname '0')' exec java -Xms2G -Xmx2G -jar minecraftserver. If you are using a Mac and trying to start your server you will need to place your server executable.
#DO I NEED JAVA 8 FOR MINECRAFT UPDATE#
At the time of writing, that is Version 8 Update 40. On at 8:26 PM, lmg1152 said: From today (2021.05.13), with 21w19a, Mojang ships Java 16.x not a Java 1.8x. You dont actually need to install Java separately for installing optifine. java -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M -jar minecraftserver.jar nogui. Version 8 Update 25 is not the most recent version. Minecraft seems to run an old version of Java 8 by default. You may need to replace the version, jre1.8.0_40, with a different one though. You still technically need Java, but it is now downloaded by the Minecraft launcher and stored with the launcher instead of installed across the entire system. Java 8 does not want it when starting up, but it still works if you do have it.
If i recall the launcher refused to start minecraft because of a minor hint from Java, caused by deprecated parameter -XX: PermSize. The path itself is then C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_40\bin\javaw.exe or C:\Program Files \Java\jre1.8.0_31\bin\javaw.exe depending on that. This new Minecraft development changes the game, however, so that we no longer need a full system-wide Java installation to play the game. So far it's worked smoothly for me for very long time, but i hear some others have had issues with it. On Windows, Java is usually installed in C:\Program Files\Java or C:\Program Files (x86)\Java depending on whether you have installed 64-bit or 32-bit Java. This is simple as well provided that you know where Java is installed on your system. What if you want to use a different Java version? I placed minecraft.exe in C:\Users\Martin\Downloads which meant that I had to set the integrated Java path to C:\Users\Martin\Downloads\runtime\jre-圆4\1.8.0_25\bin\javaw.exe.
The runtime directory is added automatically to the Minecraft root directory which means that you need to add runtime\jre-圆4\1.8.0_25\bin\javaw.exe to its path to set it as the default Java version used by the gameīefore you can edit the preference, check the executable box in front of it.
